RNA interference (RNAi) is a biological phenomenon controlling the expression of complementary genes by creating RNAs of 21-23 nucleotides in length, such as small interfering RNA (siRNA) and microRNA (miRNA) in eukaryotes. These small regulatory RNAs play important roles in various biological processes, including animal development, genomic stability, and virus resistance, and are also closely linked to human diseases.

RNAi has also been applied in various fields including the treatment and diagnosis of human diseases. Understanding the formation and action mechanisms of small RNAs as well as their in vivo functions is indispensable, considering the biological importance and applicability of RNAi. Our lab is using various models to study the mechanisms and applications of RNAi and is also conducting in-depth research on the biological functions of individual small RNAs.
