고려대학교 공과대학 건축 · 사회환경공학부 물환경플랜트공학연구실의 홍승관 교수입니다.
우리 연구실은 국내 첨단환경공학 기술 분야의 연구개발에 매진하고 있습니다. 특히, 인류의 역사나 발전에 있어서 가장 중요한 것이었던 물을 분석하고 제어, 관리함과 더불어 양질의 음용수를 얻기 위한 연구를 하고 있습니다. 물환경플랜트공학 연구실의 연구는 최첨단의 멤브레인 기술을 이용한 고도정수처리를 통해 양질의 수질을 얻기 위한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있으며, 점차 강화되고 있는 음용수에 대한 규제기준과 상수원의 오염으로 인하여 수처리 공정에서 멤브레인의 적용 가능성에 관한 많은 연구가 진행되고 있습니다.
현재 멤브레인의 기술은 압력차를 이용한 MF(Microfiltration), UF(Ultrafiltration), NF(Nanofiltration), RO(Reverse osmosis)
그리고 FO(Foward osmosis) 등이 이용되며, 이를 통해 양질의 음용수 공급량을 증가시키는데 그 목적이 있습니다.
또한 멤브레인의 효과적인 적용을 위해 연구도 병행 되고 있습니다. 대량의 처리시설인 정수장에서의 실용화 등 다양한 수질분야에 최첨단 기술인 멤브레인을 활용하기 위한 연구를 수행하고 있습니다.
물환경플랜트공학 연구실은 국내는 물론 세계적으로 최고가 되고자 하는 목표 아래 오늘도 연구에 매진하고 있습니다.
국가경쟁력의 요체가 될 핵심기술분야인 멤브레인 기술에 관한 학문적인 내용을 바탕으로 실제 산업적인 측면에 응용함으로써 좋은 수질을 얻기 위한 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 또한, 최고의 기술력과 경쟁력확보를 위한 노력을 하고 있으며, 21세기를 이끄는 멤브레인 기술의 진보가 있을 때 고려대학교 건축사회환경공학부 물환경플랜트공학 연구실이 핵심적인 기여를 하고 있을 것임을 확신합니다.

Environmental Engineering Laboratory course is designed to help students better understand basic principles of environmental engineering, by conducting various experiments essential for water and wastewater treatment.
The main objective of this course is to teach fundamental principles of unit operations and processes in environmental engineering, primarily water and wastewater treatment
Basic concepts of unit operations commonly used in water and wastewater treatment. Design of conventional and advanced water and wastewater treatment plants.
Basic principles of aquatic chemistry and their applications in environmental engineering such as water and wastewater treatment. Specifically, thermodynamic analysis of Acid-Base, Precipitation-Dissolution, Complexation, and Oxidation-Reduction reactions using aqueous systems that are common to water, wastewater and natural environments.
Basic and advanced concepts of engineering mathematics including Ordinary Differential Equations, Vector Calculus, and Partial Differential Equations, with an emphasis of their applications in Civil and Environmental Engineering

Fundamental principles of fluid mechanics and their applications in hydraulic engineering: fluid properties, hydrostatics, continuity, energy, momentum, and dimensional analysis.
