Research Topic본 연구실에서 진행중인 첫 번째 연구는 유전자 치료나 vaccine에 이용되는 vecotr의 개발을 위해 필요한 유전자를 내재 하는 extrachromosomal integration system의 개발이다. 유전자 치료나 생 vaccine에 이용될 vector는 과거 10년 이상 연구해 온 Enterococcus 유래 bacteriophage의 integrase와 그 부착부위인 attP를 이용하며, site-specific integration 기작을 통하여 mammalian cell의 pseudo 부착부위인 pseudo attB로의 integration에 응용된다. 또한 항생제 내성 전이의 주 원인으로 알려져 있는 Enterococcus 내재 plasmid의 replication mechanism을 연구하고 이를 이용하여 내성 전이 차단 system 및 gram positive와 gram negative strain 양쪽에 모두 적용 될 수 있는 shuttle vector system을 개발 중이다.본 연구실의 두번째 연구 테마는 기능성 식품 신소재 및 생리활성 물질의 개발 및 기작규명이다. 효모가 생산하는 적색소인 astaxanthin의 고생산 변이주의 개발을 통해 고효율 대량 생산법의 확립, 위염및 위궤양 치료제 개발 및 항암작용의 규명에 초점을 맞추고 있으며, 식물(흑미, 자초, 오미자 등)에서 항산화 물질을 함유한 색소(phytochemical)를 추출 및 정제하여 항산화 작용 규명 및 식품 첨가물로의 개발을 위해 연구중이다. 또한 생리활성을 가진 다당류를 탐색하고, 이 다당류의 항암, immune 강화작용 및 항균 활성 기작을 규명한다. Yeast로 부터 β-glucan과 mannan(manno-protein)을 분리 정제 하여 immune강화 activity를 측정하고 구조 분석 및 새로운 생리활성 물질로의 개발에 역점을 둔다.Research AreaThe study of devilopment of novel vectors and strategies for gene therapy.
