    About Nutraceuticals

    기능성식품 연구실에서는 건강기능성식품에 대한 전반적인 내용을 다루고 있습니다. 기능성 식품은 1970년대 건강식품으로서 인기가 상승하기 시작해 90년대 과학적 증거를 수반하면서 널리 알려져 있습니다. 인간의 생활에 있어서 건강에 특별하게 기여하는 식품을 기능성식품이라고 합니다. 기능성식품의 개념은 여러가지 요인에 의하는데 건강의 증진이나 건강에 도움을 주는 식품으로 그 범위를 정하고 있습니다. 기능성식품(functional foods)이란 nutraceuticals, designer foods 및 pharmafoods 등으로 불리기도 하는데 질병을 예방하거나 호전 시키는 식품을 말합니다. 모든 음식물은 단백질, 에너지, 섬유질 등 영양성분을 제공한다는 점에서 기능성을 지닌다고 할 수 있으나, 기능성식품은 “영양적 가치 이외에도 개인의 건강이나 신체적 활동, 정신 상태 등에 긍정적인 영향을 줄 수 있는 식품이나 식품소재” 로 정의 내리고 있습니다.
