    Dr. Jina Choo is a professor of community health nursing at Korea University College of Nursing. Her primary scientific area is the development and evaluation of community-driven interventions on a basis of an ecological perspective for individuals, families, and populations who are at risk for cardiovascular disease.
     
    Her research features a series of cardiovascular epidemiological studies to identify socioeconomic, behavioral, and environmental factors associated with cardiovascular health outcomes. Moreover, it includes a series of randomized controlled trials to improve health behaviors and cardiovascular outcomes in vulnerable population groups (i.e., women, children, or workers).
     
    She has being conducted national-level/local-level research projects for cardiovascular prevention, including "Heart and Weight Loss Study" for women's obesity prevention, “The 3 Healthy Study” for childhood obesity prevention, and "The Heart-Healthy Study for cardiovascular prevention. The aims of the research projects were to identify multi-level factors associated with obesity and the associations between overweight/obesity and cardiovascular health outcomes; and to develop an effective cardiovascular prevention program in vulnerable populations based on an ecological perspective, including a family-focused, organization-focused, or community-focused intervention.
     
    She served as a chief director of the Expert Group on Health Promotion for the Seoul Metropolitan Government during 2020 - 2021 years. The Expert Group executes policy development, professional and technical support for community health centers of 25 municipal counties, development and implementation of educational programs for nurses, public officials, and other health care workers, and studies for evidence-based practices. Dr. Choo developed resources and collaborations with various health professionals, researchers, and community stakeholders at community organizations, institutions, and agencies.
     
    She is a consultant for the Seoul Metropolitan Lifestyle Intervention Program that Seoul Metropolitan City operates for Seoul citizens to prevent cardiovascular disease and diabetes. With her active activities, the Ministry of Health and Welfare earned her the Ministry Prize in April, 2017.
     
    Finally, she has started to serve as a president of the Korea Academy of Community Health Nursing since 2022 year. The Korea Academy of Community Health Nursing is a prestidge academic association for policy development, research, undergraduate education development, journal publications, and advertisement for community health nursing.
