  • Profile

    Grounding my work in a developmental-contextual perspective, I study adolescent and young adult development with a special focus on how people’s work-related goals and attitudes develop in context, including within families, schools, workplaces, and broader socio-cultural environments. Given my focus on development, my work primarily involves longitudinal data as well as longitudinal data analysis techniques. 

     

    인간의 발달은 그 개인이 속해있는 맥락과의 상호작용을 통해 일어난다. 본인은 이와 같은 발달-맥락적 관점으로 진로의 발달을 이해하려고 한다. 주로 관심있는 발달단계는 아동과 청소년기이다. 또한, 가족이나 학교 또는 직장 등의 맥락이 개인의 진로발달에 어떤 영향을 미치는지에 대해서도 관심이 많다. 관심분야의 특성상 발달방법론을 자주 활용한다. 주로 종단자료를 분석하는 방법을 사용하지만, 여러 발달단계를 한꺼번에 조사하여 연령에 따른 차이를 분석하는 횡단분석방법도 종종 사용한다.

  • Research

    본인의 연구관심분야는 크게 세 가지 주제어로 표현된다. 일, 가족, 그리고 젠더가 그것이다.

     

    1. 직업선택에 있어서의 성차 (일, 젠더)

    우리 나라 직업별 성 분포를 살펴보면, 성차이가 확연하게 드러나는 직업군들이 있다. 예를 들어, 간호사 직업의 경우 대다수가 여성이고, 경찰/소방직의 경우 대다수가 남성이다. 왜 그러한 차이가 나는걸까? 이 주제는 이미 몇십년간 연구해온 주제임에도 불구하고 아직도 많은 학자들이 탐구중에 있다. 이처럼 직업선택에 있어 성차가 나타나는 이유로는 생물학적인 차이, 직업에 대한 인식차이, 부모나 교사 혹은 또래들과의 상호작용 차이, 차별 등 여러가지 요인에서 비롯된다고 밝혀졌지만 좀 더 세밀하게 현상을 들여다보고 우리 사회에서 개선할 수 있는 여지가 있는 영역이 무엇인지 알아내고자 한다.

     

    2. 부모가 자녀의 진로발달에 미치는 영향 (가족, 일, 젠더)

    한 개인의 발달(특히 아동의 발달)에 있어서 강한 영향력을 미칠 수 있는 것이 가족체계일 것이다. 우리는 생물학적 부모로부터 유전자를 물려받을 뿐만 아니라, 부모가 형성하는 가족분위기에 영향을 받기도 하고, 부모가 하는 말, 부모가 하는 행동을 의식적 무의식적으로 학습한다. 아동과 청소년들이 가족 안에서 부모로부터 배우는 일에 대한 태도, 직업가치, 흥미분야 등이 무엇인지 탐구하고자 한다.

     

    3. 일-가족 관리에 있어서의 남녀 차이 (일, 가족, 젠더)

    현대사회의 성인들은 일과 가족의 영역에서 일정한 역할을 해내는 경우가 많다. 하지만 사람마다 일과 가족에 부여하는 중요도가 다르고 (개인 간 차이), 한 사람을 기준으로 하더라도 생애주기나 발달단계에 따라 각각의 역할에 부여하는 중요도가 변할 수 있다 (개인 내 변화). 이와 같은 일-가족 가치가 생애주기에 따라 어떻게 발달하고, 그것이 현재의 나의 일과 진로발달에 어떤 영향을 미치는 지 알아보고자 한다.
