Youngsub Eom, MD, graduated from Korea University, College of Medicine, Seoul, South Korea in 2007. He continued onto Ophthalmology residency and completed in 2012. He has been a Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology at the Korea University, College of Medicine since 2012. Prof. Eom received his Master’s and Ph.D. degree in Medicine from the same school in 2011 and 2016, respectively. His major clinical interests are ocular surface disease such as dry eyes and meibomian gland disorder, ocular optics, and cataract and refractive surgery.

Prof. Eom is a member of several scientific societies such as Korean External Eye Disease Society, Korea Dry Eye Society, Korean Corneal Disease Study Group, Korean Meibomian gland and Ocular Surface Group, and Korean Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. His research focuses on the ocular optics and ocular surface disease. Prof. Eom is working as an associate editor for BioMed Central (BMC) ophthalmology from 2017. Prof. Eom developed several customized calculators for the calculation of intraocular lens (IOL) power to be used in cataract surgery such as Sub Toric IOL Calculator, Sulcus-Implanted IOL power calculator, IOL add power calculator, and K-Adjusted IOL power calculator. These calculators were published via high-ranked Journals such as American Journal of Ophthalmology, Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science, and Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology.
